Built for learners.
Reviewed by educators.
LexUp Dictionary combines large-scale English lexical data with educator review so learners can find clear, practical vocabulary help without relying on random word lists.
How the dictionary is built
Our dictionary is compiled from multiple large-scale lexical data sources, not copied from a single database. We normalize and structure this material for search, then prioritize useful learning information such as definitions, pronunciation, examples, word origin, and related vocabulary where available.
Educator review
LexUp’s review group includes English teachers, including Boğaziçi University graduates and contributors with doctoral qualifications. They help assess clarity, learning usefulness, and the vocabulary material used in LexUp’s core learning experience.
Learning collections and search
Search covers a broad English vocabulary database of more than 500,000 words. Learning features in the LexUp app prioritize words and practice material selected for usefulness, so a searchable entry may not always include every learning feature.
Corrections and updates
Language data evolves, and mistakes can happen. If you spot an issue with a definition, pronunciation, example, or vocabulary label, contact aldemir@lexupapp.com. Useful corrections are reviewed and incorporated when appropriate.
